Rental Charges

Hong Kong Baptist University adjusts the rental fee on July 1 each year. Weddings held after July 1 will be processed at the adjusted fee without prior notice.

1. Venue Rental Fee: HK$ 8,500
   • Chapel capacity: 300. No extra seats can be added
   • Fee includes: Rehearsal and Wedding, 4 hours in total
     • 1 hour of Rehearsal. Please be punctual and do not overrun.
     • 3 hours of Wedding (including 1 hour of decoration, 1 hour of ceremony and 30 mins of photo-taking and venue vacation. Please do not overrun.
       
       
2. Deposit (For extra cleaning & overtime charges): HK$1,500
   • The rental period includes preparation and decoration. Please start and end on time. The overtime will be charged on half-hour basis.
   • The deposit will be refunded after 8 weeks from wedding date, provided that there is no damages or violation of regulations.

Application Procedure

1. Check Availability

• Contact Chaplain's Office 6 months before to check the availability (Tel: 3411 7663)
  • Only accept applications within six months prior to rental date
    
    

2. Complete the Application Form

• Eligible applicants, with verbal approval, should send the completed application form together with supporting documents to Chaplain's Office
  • Only original copy of application form is accepted
    
    

3. Confirm Application

• Confirmation email will be sent to applicants within one week upon the receipt of required documents
• Normally, Chaplain's Office rarely rejects applications
• Once confirmation email is sent, Chaplain's Office will cash the rental fee cheque. The deposit cheque will be retained until the wedding date,  and will be processed or returned to applicant

4. Apply for the Certificate of Registrar of Marriages (RC)

• At no more than three months prior to wedding date, applicant must register at the Marriage Registry and obtain the "Certificate of Registrar of Marriages", according to the laws of Hong Kong. For details, please visit https://www.info.gov.hk/immd/. Please submit the RC to Chaplain's Office one month before the wedding date to create marriage certificate
  • Please ensure the information on RC is correct upon receipt
    
    

5. Arrange Wedding Rehearsal

• After our receipt of required documents, the applicant should contact Chaplain's Office and the officiating pastor at least one month before the wedding date to arrange the rehearsal 
• Wedding rehearsal personnel should include: parents or witnesses, bride, groom, maid of honor, best man, page boy, flower girl, pianist
  • The rehearsal (1 hour) usually takes place within two weeks before wedding date. Please be punctual and do not overrun
  • Page boy and flower girl are recommended to be 4 years old or above

* Chaplain's Office reserves all approval rights

Application Form and Documents

1. HKBU University Chapel Wedding Booking Form
2. Applicant's HKBU identity proof (such as copy of staff card, copy of graduation certificate or relevant identification)
3. Copies of Baptism Certificates of both bride and groom
4. Church Recommendation Letter
5. Proof of pre-marital counseling
6. Rental fee Cheque and Deposit Cheque, in total 2 cheques
